Vehicle Rentals

Vehicles are available to rent by faculty, staff and students for events and University business. Vehicles are available for pick up during TAPS office hours.

Faculty & Staff: To request a vehicle, please visit ePay.

Student Clubs & Organizations: To reserve a vehicle, please request through the Office of Student Life.

All drivers must:

  • Be affiliated with UC Merced
  • Possess a valid CA driver’s license
  • Have successfully passed a DMV Pull
  • Be present to sign out the vehicle and receive the keys

All student drivers must complete a Student Authorization Form.

The use of Contract & Grant funds requires the submittal of the Special Projects Fund Approval form.

The weekly rate will apply to rentals spanning 4 to 7 consecutive days.

* CNG's may only be rented for travel within a 50-mile radius from campus.

Vehicles must be returned with the same level of fuel as received and all gas receipts must be submitted to TAPS. Failure to refuel will result in a recharged administrative fee in addition to the cost of fuel.

Vehicles returned after 10 am on the scheduled return date will be charged the full daily rate.

Vehicles returned after 4:00 pm must be parked in the LeGrand lot and the keys deposited in the TAPS Drop Box.

Please note a 24-hour cancellation notice is required and must be submitted to taps@ucmerced.edu in order to process your cancellation. The daily rate will still be recharged to your FAU for each day the vehicle is reserved if a cancellation is received the same day as the reservation.

A TAPS Representative will respond to your submitted vehicle reservation request within 24-48 business hours with the status of your vehicle request.
