Long Range Transportation Planning
The Office of Physical Planning Design & Construction is currently revising the Long Range Development Plan (LRDP) which outlines the future growth pattern for the UC Merced campus. Transportation planning is a central component of the LRDP where enhanced mobility through development of a balanced, multi-modal transportation network is paramount in ensuring the campus meets its sustainable development objectives.
A balanced multi-modal transportation network is one in which each mode, or type of transportation, is able to contribute to an efficient network of services meeting various user needs. The planning department has developed four concept transportation plans that include; a well-designed pedestrian-oriented circulation network, a comprehensive bicycle system, a highly integrated transit network and a services route designed to efficiently move goods in and out of campus. The plans form the transportation fabric essential to accommodating a highly mobile campus population.
