Traffic Safety Advisory

April 3, 2017

Dear campus community,

Campus administration has been working diligently to relieve traffic congestion on and near campus that has resulted in delays on Lake and Bellevue roads. After evaluating traffic conditions, the campus is taking temporary steps to improve traffic flow and public safety.

From April 4 through May 11, the UC Merced Police Department will coordinate traffic flow during the peak periods of Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 to 10 a.m.

As you arrive near campus you will see signs indicating traffic flagging/directing is taking place ahead. Please drive carefully, be alert to the flow of traffic and follow the guidance of the officials directing traffic.

Traffic control will occur at the intersections of:

·         Lake and Bellevue roads

·         Lake Road and Scholars Lane

·         Scholars Lane and Emigrant Pass

Remember to:

·         Use turn signals at intersections;

·         Watch for cross traffic when turning or entering intersections;

·         Drive defensively and follow all the rules of the road; and

·         Avoid distracting activities — including using a cell phone or adjusting the radio — that may take your attention away from driving.
