There are many bus shuttles you may take to campus and around the city of Merced. The most popular transits are CatTracks — UC Merced's shuttle service, and The Bus — Merced County's shuttle service. There are also bus services available to travel outside the city, such as VIA Adventures and YARTS (See "Other Bus Shuttle" Options below). TAPS is a big supporter of any means of travel that help protect the environment, and taking the bus is a great way to do so!

CatTracks

CatTracks is the primary shuttle for UC Merced. It is the first choice for students, faculty, and staff! Whether you are heading for campus, or downtown to relax and have fun, CatTracks is a reliable means of getting around town. All you have to do is show the bus driver your CatCard, and you can ride for free!*

If you have any comments or suggestions as to how CatTracks can better serve you, please send an email to taps@ucmerced.edu.

*CatCard must be valid and legible.  Students pay fare through a Transportation fee in their tuition.

The Bus

The Bus is the Merced County public transit system. Route 22 comes to campus Monday - Friday. In order to board The Bus, you must present a bus pass or pay the $1 fare per ride. If you are a UC Merced student with a valid CatCard, simply come to the TAPS office, located in Facilities Services Building A, and show it to us. We will then be able to issue you a FREE* 31-day bus pass, which is good for any of the Merced County buses. Faculty and Staff must pay for a bus pass, however it is at a reduced fee. You may renew your bus pass a few days before it expires.**
*Students pay fare through a Transportation fee in their tuition.
**If pass is lost within the 31-day period, and you would like a new one, there is a $45 replacement fee.
