Student Permits

TAPS' mission is to protect the parking spaces of those who pay for and properly display a valid parking permit to ensure a safe and user-friendly environment is maintained on campus. Parking citations will be issued to those who do not abide by UC Merced's parking regulations.

Parking permit purchases are on a first come first serve basis; this means certain parking permits may or may not be available at any given time.  Purchasing a parking permit does not guarantee space availability.

Students are welcome to purchase hourly permits for temporary parking only in Lake Lots 1&2, and Evolution Valley Lot. Students may not park in Library, Le Grand, Shaver Lake or North Bowl lots. See rates in Visitor Permits.

Any changes and/or additions to the vehicle information listed on your permit application (ex: license plate number) must be immediately reported to Transportation & Parking Services, either in person or via email.

The parking permit holder must be present in order for TAPS to release any parking permit(s).  Prior arrangements may be accepted, please call the TAPS helpdesk (209) 228-8277 or toll free (866) 755-8277 for more information.

Resident Housing Permit information 2012-2013

Housing permit applications were available beginning 6/1/2012. This includes the Freshman Exception, Continuing/New Transfer, and Off Campus Remote applications. The application process is now closed; you must e-mail taps@ucmerced.edu to be put on a waiting list.

Freshman Residents

Incoming freshmen residents are not eligible for campus parking. However, a limited number of spaces have been allotted to accommodate freshman residents who require frequent access to a vehicle. You may apply for an "H" permit if you meet one of the exception criteria; otherwise, you may apply for a "OC" permit to park in a lot at Merced College.

OC permit holders have access to the student commuter parking lots during the weekends starting Friday at 6pm until Monday at 7am. Purchasing a permit from one of the kiosk machines does not grant on campus parking during the week. The one hour spaces on Muir Pass may be utilized during the week for loading and unloading purposes.
