UC Merced Carpool Program
CARPOOL PERMIT REQUIREMENTS
A registered UC Merced carpool consists of two or more people (faculty/staff/student) sharing one car on the majority of their commute trips to campus. A Carpool Application for the entire carpool must be completed. Carpool permits must be purchased for a minimum of one academic semester. Each carpool will be assigned one carpool decal and 12 occasional permits to those individuals that have a vehicle registered with the carpool. The permits should be clearly displayed on the driver’s side dash. Carpool participants are restricted from purchasing general use monthly/semester permits.
Student Carpool Requirements:
- Student carpools must have two or more currently registered students attending UC Merced.
- Carpool members must ride together at least three days per week (Monday - Friday).
- Each member must complete the Student Carpool Application Form.
- Carpool permits must be purchased for a minimum of one academic semester.
- The primary driver must approve each member participating in the carpool.
- The primary driver will be issued the parking decal. Each additional rider that has a vehicle registered with the carpool will receive 12 occasional use permits. These permits are non-transferable and are for use on days when carpooling to campus is not feasible.
Staff/Faculty Carpool Requirements:
- All members must be current UC Merced faculty, staff or grad students.
- Carpool members must ride together at least three days per week (Monday – Friday).
- Each carpool participant must complete a Payroll Deduction Application Form.
- All carpool applications must be turned in together.
Lost your permit? - Reported stolen permits will be replaced at no charge when accompanied by a UC Merced Police Department theft report. Reported lost permits will be replaced at cost of $10 for administrative fees. Only one carpool permit will be replaced per carpool group.
